How We Install Flatwork

Great flatwork starts below the surface. The base has to be solid, the slope has to be right, and the pour has to be smooth. Here is how we make sure every walkway and sidewalk we build lasts:

Site Prep and Base Work

We excavate the area to the right depth, remove any soft or unstable soil, and compact a gravel base. This base prevents settling and gives the concrete a stable foundation. We also check the grade to ensure water drains away from buildings and does not pool on the surface.

Forming and Reinforcement

We set forms to define the edges and ensure the concrete goes exactly where it should. For sidewalks and walkways that will see regular use, we add steel reinforcement like rebar or wire mesh. This extra support helps prevent cracking and adds years to the life of the concrete.

Pouring and Finishing

Once the forms are set, we pour the concrete and work it into place. We use screeds and floats to level the surface, then apply the finish you want. For smooth, standard sidewalks, we use a trowel finish. For paths that need more grip, we use a broom finish that adds texture. Every step is timed right to get a clean, uniform result. Curing and Sealing
